MUSIC LOVERS TAKE NOTE

TreasuresF&P Associates, Galleries #, 39, 40, 83 & 84 have acquired a fine gilt-bronze mounted Amaranth kingwood and satine trellis-parquetry grand piano. The movement is by Erard, Paris, circa 1885-90.

The lid is inlaid with a trellis pattern parquetry and set with an acanthus-cast molded border that lifts to reveal a burr maple veneered interior and movement. The inscription reads: Par Brevet d’Invention, Seb. & Pre. Erard, 13 &21, rue du Mail, Paris and stenciled 68250. It is also stamped PINEL.

The ivory and ebony keyboard has the name, Erard, inscribed above it in brass. The case is embellished with allegorical mounts of the “Triumph of Peace” and the pedal is lyre-shaped and stamped 68250. Beautiful tapered legs adorned with floral garlands are on castors. The dimensions for the piano are: height 35 1/4”, width 54”, length 78”.
