NELSON & NELSON ANTIQUES ASSEMBLES
UNPARALLELED SELECTION OF FINE ANTIQUE SILVER
TO HIGHLIGHT THE OPENING OF NEW D&D BUILDING SHOWROOM
NELSON & NELSON ANTIQUES, INC., owned and operated for more than 30 years by Steve and Marge Nelson, announce the opening of a new showroom in Suite 507 of the D&D (Decoration and Design) Building, 979 Third Avenue in New York City. The Nelsons have earned a reputation for showcasing a wide variety of exquisite and unusual objects, many of them rare and historical and of exceptional design quality. To highlight the opening of the new showroom, The Nelsons’ have acquired an assemblage of some of the most classic items from some of the most revered makers worldwide.
Some of the extraordinary items available in the new showroom include an exquisite Tiffany and Company “Art Moderne” bowl with a gleaming, smooth surface and sleek, elegant lines. The bowl was made circa 1950 and has ageless and timeless appeal.
One would be hard pressed to find anything as unique and delicate as a pair of Japanese silver iris-form candlesticks, circa 1890. These distinctive works of art will be the focal point at a table set for an evening dinner party.
Among the magnificent selection of vases, an Art Deco Tiffany & Company Sterling vase is another treasure that adds drama to the table. Its lyrical fluted shape features a subtle etched botanical motif at the base and was made in New York in 1925 by Tiffany and Company.
NELSON & NELSON also features a diverse collection of handsome pitchers such as the rare Martele Sterling silver pitcher by Gorham, circa 1890. The pitcher has a substantial, interesting shape with floral overlay motif and an asymmetrical opening resembling the petals of a flower.
The new showroom has the ideal ambience in which to view the many dazzling examples of late 19th century and early 20th century silver candelabra, tea sets, punch bowls, candlesticks, picture frames, flatware, hollowware and vanity items. The Nelsons also carry an extensive selection of bronze doré picture frames, beautiful enamels and Victorian and Edwardian Jewelry.
Steve Nelson says, ''We are getting a very good response from the new clients coming into our showroom at the D&D Building. Numerous designers have said that a showroom like ours has been needed in the building for a long time. We have become reacquainted with many of our former customers, since they frequent the D&D and had shopped at our previous Park Avenue location for years. We are excited about our move.''
