CHINESE CHIPPENDALE SILVER TABLE FROM SMITH & WATSON
RECALLS THE GENTILITY OF 18TH CENTURY ENGLAND
Smith & Watson, masters of fine English and continental antique reproduction furniture since 1907, introduce the delicately hand carved Chinese Chippendale Silver Table, a meticulous reproduction of an original English antique, circa 1760.
Afternoon tea in 18th century England was an important and often formal ritual. Wealthy families would display their elegant tea services on an elaborately carved Silver Table. High tea was an integral part of high society and the elegant Silver Table was indicative of ones station in life.
Intricately carved in figured mahogany, the gallery and legs of the Chinese Chippendale Silver Table reflect Thomas Chippendales fondness for Chinese design which emanated from the importation of tea to England from China.
The table is available in other wood choices and custom sizes by special order.
